GPS Community Services

You see it in our logo, we are committed to being "God's People Serving." What this means for us is that as people of faith our call to be Christ's Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5) means that we are to be out in the world in the name of Christ.*

We are not all called to be pastors and worship leaders and church secretaries...we are called to be about Christ's work throughout the various vocations God has called us into. Martin Luther said, "if you are a shoemaker be the best shoemaker you can be." While we do what we have been called to do we serve God and we enter into the world with open eyes and open hearts seeking out opportunities to serve our neighbors in the name of Jesus Christ.

Many things have happened through the people of GPS that others don't even know about. In addition some great ministries have happened because people followed the call of God and asked others to help. For example, one member felt a call to provide blankets for the homelss in Rockford and got the word out through her small group and others. She collected around 100 blankets last winter.

The next few pages are just a few of the ministries that we take on together as a faith community. GPS Community has committed to feeding the hungry and caring for youth. Check out the pages on our Mobile Food Pantry ministry, our partnership with Maple Elementary School and our new collection of kids underwear for MAPS.

*Services are offered to community members without regard to religious orientation, nor is religious participation ever a requirement. We are called to serve the world right where it is at!
